Experience with Leadership, ABA, Psychology, Neuroscience, and Educating.
My undergraduate career at the University of Central Florida (UCF) began in 2021 after graduating with honors and an International Baccalaureate Diploma (IB) from Stanton College Preparatory. Since then, I have expanded my experience with Psychology, Neurology, and clinical settings.
I have participated in years worth of leadership symposiums with the Youth Advisory Council (YAC) at Camp Blanding as the President. Overseeing camps and retreats, I hoped to testify my organizational and time-management skills, accountability, responsibility, and dependability. It is here where I learned Master Resiliency Training (MRT) and taught self-defense for childhood abduction prevention and female defense empowerment through Rape Aggression and Defense (RAD). Overall, I accumulated over 500+ volunteer hours with this organization.
I was a Supplemental Instructor (SI) at UCF for Chemistry for a brief period in 2022. I collaborated with students and their professor to ensure their individual successes! I created study plans, materials, and supported their learning styles as I taught their course content to them five days a week. While a short experience, it increased my knowledge tenfold about organizing and distributing STEM course materials and taught me how to consider teaching information from diverse perspectives.
In 2022, I began my membership in the Neuroscience Alliance at UCF. I currently hold a board position as the Education Chair for the annual Brain Bee E-board. Through this experience, I have volunteered with the Annual Neuroscience UCF Retreat, the Orlando Science Museum within Dr. Dre’s Lab, participated in Brain Dissections with Doctor Wagner at the Arnold Palmer Hospital in Orlando, as well as donated my time to Seminole High school for Brain Bee. The Annual Brain Bee is a nationwide competition for high schoolers to test their neuroscience-related topics. My job is to tutor these students, create learning/studying material, create the test that assesses their competency in neuroscience, and assist in their success at the Annual Brain Bee.
I am a part-time Registered Behavior Technician (RBT), and have been since April of 2022. This opportunity has allowed me to gain experience in a clinical setting as well as conduct applied behavioral analysis (ABA). It has shown me what possibilities hold for the future of my Psychology career, and how I can advance my position through my education at UCF.
When I am not getting involved with my organizations or work, I am creating art! I participated in the IB program's art path, and I was able to conduct my first exhibition. My medium is primarily all ballpoint pen, but I will alternate to chalk pastel on occasion.
